wheelchair accessible planters
National Park Cities are cities where access to nature is celebrated and promoted, including and especially for those facing more barriers to being active in nature.

With the support of Southampton City Council's 'Active Communities' fund, in 2022 we were able to establish wheelchair accessible planters in communal spaces across the city. These are at Ropewalk Community Gardens and the garden at Rose Road Association.

We are continuing this project by exploring the possibilities of upgrading certain council allotment spaces for those with particular accessibility needs. If this is something you have interest, experience or passion about, please do get in touch to discuss.
